Spot-On Replicars?

Post  105E on Thu Apr 28, 2011 12:36 pm

Hi, would like some help and/or information on the early Replicars models. I bought this Model of an Anglia (no 36 in the Replicars range) about 12 months ago. It is a Triang Spot-On casting, that has the Triang logo ground off the base plate! The interior is a heavy metal arrangement not the Spot-On plastic interior.

What I do know is that it was produced in the early 80's they also did several other Spot-On models, I have seen the Fiat Multipla, Morris Minor and Jaguar boxed and badged as Replicars .

They are a Dutch company (Replicars BV) who are still in business. I emailed them asking about the history of the models but they said its to old for them to have records or knowledge of!

I wanted to know did they buy Spot-On moulds? Did they buy Spot-On parts? did they just refurb existing models? etc................... there must have been a fair range as the Anglia was numered 36? Any info apprieciated, here are some pics..

It is very possible that they bought the moulds. Old Spot On castings have turned up under the Spot On Norev name now, and they are bloominwell pricey too.
