Corgi 1/50 scale Routemaster
This is my only 1/50 scale bus. Its a Corgi Routemaster, and to be honest, it wasnt one of Corgi's best efforts casting wise. The shape isnt quite right, and the paintwork is a bit patchy. I don't know why they bothered putting a 'driver' in either, as it looks crude, and cheapens the model. The model came with a replica LT cap badge.

It is a mystery to me why some manufacturers today have trouble making the window pillars on diecast vehicles to scale.
How come Dinky, Matchbox, Corgi and many others could produce very realistic looking models in the fifties and sixties and they were not aiming for the collectors market, but churning out toys for kids like us to crash into each other.
Dinky produced some fine detailed models of buses and coaches just after the second world war with window pillars that looked just right in my opinion.
I hope someone will explain why we have not really progressed very far in the pillar department over the last sixty years!
Is the casting metal different or are there some other factors?
That's my moan for this evening, I'm going to watch for the replies from the experts out there!

You should see some of the 1/76 scale ones. I have some Britbus models packed away somewhere in a box, and the window pillars on them..Oh boy!
