I have picked up all my Michelin Collection models at this store.
They also have the taxi collection on the same shelf but I resisted buying those.
On the shelf mixed up with the kids toys. I don't think they really know what they are selling here.
All priced at 2.99! Branches throughout Yorkshire.

Will have to keep an eye out next time I'm up seeing the folks in Leeds... I've got the Austin FX4 from Modelzone, and I'm tempted with the Checker & Pug 404..

Yorkshire Trading Company Empty Bond models

Post  FenlandPaul Sun Feb 20, 2011 1:39 pm

Dave;

Did you see any James Bond models in there? The missus has stalled in her rate of collecting at the moment & is a bit fed up, ao not good for all concerned!! Is the YTC limited to the white rose county or are they national? A brief web search implied they might have taken over some of the Woolies sites in palces like Sleaford which is definately a bit clsoer to home.

Sorry to be so long replying!
On my last visit to YTC there were some Bond cars for sale for one pound each.
Not an expert on scale but they are 'Matchbox' size.
Had a 'Shell' logo on the front of the plinth as if they had been part of a promo.
I got the BMW Z3 and a Sunbeam Alpine 5.
Picked up three models from the Taxi set as well, an FX4, Ford Fairlane 'La Habana' and the Peugeot 203 'Casablanca' for 2.99 apiece.
Final one in the basket was a smart black Mk 1 Ford Escort unboxed but for 1.99 you cannot be choosy!
Stamped 'Saico' on the chassis and is to a 1/32 scale with opening doors.
I get some pictures of all this lot when I can find my camera!

The Shell 'Bond' cars I believe are made by Corgi/Johnny Lightning and are to 1/64 scale ish. I've seen these all over the place for a quid a pop. The Saico Escort I believe is fitted with a pull back & go motor, and in boxed condition goes foe under a fiver..Its a handy Scalextric 'trackside' item.

Thanks for that Marty, I could have filled the basket with models on that visit but 'management' was with me in the shop and that somewhat curtails my spending!
She does well to put up with my collections of Meccano, Scalextric and bricks!(yes, real ones not Lego)
I will try to visit another of their branches in Richmond (North Yorkshire) this week and see what they have.
That Escort would be quite easily converted to run on the Scalextric track, I'm already running Meccano vehicles including an artic unit on standard track.

There is already a bloke regularly converting pullback diecasts to run on scalextric, who sells them on ebay. Seen loads of different vehicles converted on there. The thing is, with diecast collecting, its amazing what pops up in unusual places.
