What are your dream diecasts?
We all have our 'wishlists' of models we would like to see. Vanguards currently seem to be reading my mind, with such joys as the Mk1 Ford Fiesta, and Ford Granada Mk2, plus Mk4 Cortina out this year.
What do you dream of diecast wise?

I thought the Dinky kits from the mid 1970's were a good idea.
I bought the Ford D series and Foden tipper trucks.
They came as cast and encouraged the builder to apply their own liveries and detailing.
Wish I had bought some more at the time!
When I posted the Dennis municipal brochures on CCMV last week I thought it was time someone had a go at that Dennis cab in diecast and how about making gully emptiers, dustcarts etc.

Dream Diecasts
Yup. I've seen those knocking about at toyfairs. I picked up a cheap Atlantean (Fleetine more like ) and painted it in a fictitious livery. Looks naff though to be honest, and I grafted on a set of EFE wheels to improve it slightly. I had the Ford D series tipper in orange as a nipper, along with a lime green facelift Ford D series road sweeper. sadly the later casting omitted opening doors..
Re: What are your dream diecasts?
What scale were they ? I have been looking for a D series a family member was a mechanic in the nationalized electricity industry during the 60s and 70s and I would like to collect the types he worked on.

Taking a rough guess probably around 1/43, but dont quote me on that..Dinky didnt seem to care much about scale in the 1970s

Thanks, worth looking out for.

The real D800 series tipper was 208 inches long according to my spec sheet and the model was 132mm.
With a bit of calculation I get that to near enough 1 to 40.4, so slightly larger than the average Dinky!
I have a copy of the 'Dinky toys & modelled miniatures' book.
It is an invaluable reference for all things Dinky.

Re: What are your dream diecasts?
I would love some of the late 50's/early 60's trucks in 1:43 or 1:50. For example FGKs and Commer Karriers would be very nice. They seem to manage all right in 1:76 but not 1:43/50th.

Re: What are your dream diecasts?
Hi Lee,
Great model. Can I take it form the description you produced the cab ? I ask because while the recovery truck is nice, for my collection a flat bed or box van would be more useful.
Cheers,
Kris.

Re: What are your dream diecasts?
No, unfortunately I don't. However, either a standard dropside http://www.flickr.com/photos/semmytrailer/4755468784/ or a box body like the Sunblest bread vans http://pufferwillies.co.uk/uk2ecommerce/eaction/ecom.largeImg/base_toys_d57_00_scale_leyland_fg_van_-_sunblest_bakeries/ would be useful.

Re: What are your dream diecasts?
Hi Kris, I saw the Tinkers FG at the Cheshire run in 2009 or 2010, It is quite a nice vehicle. Leave it with me and I shall have a bash as time permits.

Re: What are your dream diecasts?
Hi Lee,
Don't do anything special on my account. The tinkers photo was just to illustrate the type rather than a request for a model of that truck. Do you sell the cab mouldings separately as I had the idea that if I could afford it, I could perhaps scratch build my own requirements over time in the future.
Cheers,
Kris.

Re: What are your dream diecasts?
That's ok, but I will have to build one now for my own piece of mind, to get it out of my system. As regards the cabs, they are far from perfect when they come out of the mold and need a lot of fettling and would prefer to keep them for my own exclusive use so as not get a bad name amongst other mold makers.
Cheers.
Cheers.
