Mk3 Capri 3.0S
Well I have 1 example of this model, which is based on a 3.0 S in silver. the numberplate on it is the same as the car used in the hit 1970s TV show 'The Professionals'. The model is a pretty good likeness to the Mk3 Capri, with fairly good interior detail, but there is one glaring omission from the model, namely the sunroof. Even a tampo printed representation of it would have been nice.. The rear lights look a tad too big too.
Over all I give the model 8/10.

Vanguards Ford Escort Mk3 Police Car
I picked this Vanguards Cambridgeshire Police Escort XR3i model up at a toyfair for a bargain £5. Its not a bad little representation of the Mk3 Escort, including the cloverleaf alloys this car was famous for. Printing isnt the sharpest on it, and there is a tiny mark on one side, but at that price I aint arguing. Glad to see that they are starting to add more detail though to the range, which includes more photo etched parts. There is also more blurb about the real car on a leaflet inside the box, which states the XR3 was rare as a police car.
Later on I bought the DATAPOST/Richard Longman RS1600i racing version of the Escort, and this has a slightly different body casting to the police model, but sadly has the road car interior. I know current 'racing' models in the Vanguards range now have fully detailled roll cages and racing seats in. Good on you Corgi..Sadly the prices of these are often a few quid higher. Ah well..

Re: Vanguards Cars
Its a Corgi casting, and has been on the go for years. I bet there are a fair few on Ebay, along with the van version.
Re: Vanguards Cars
I quite fancy the Fordson tractors van but it is relatively expensive on E Bay.

Very nicely detailed and certainly captures the look.

Re: Vanguards Cars
Yes, looks good!
All it needs is the sales reps jacket hanging from the hook and a briefcase on the front seat....
Is that a black grommet on the front door where the mirror fits?
Going to the Yorkshire Trading shop tomorrow where they have the Altaya & Michelins for 2.99 each, hope I can come away with a few not already in my collection.

Re: Vanguards Cars
Hope you pick up some little smashers! Wished they would branch out round here..We have a chain called QD's, which sound similar, but they don't stock em...
Re: Vanguards Cars
The Vanguards fleet has grown quite a lot recently, including another new casting in their Blue Oval range. I now have 2 examples of the Fiesta Mk1 which I got for Christmas. The boggo 1.1L, and the top of the line XR2. Next on the shopping list is the Granada Ghia, and Cortina 1.6L, plus the up and coming Escort Mk2 in 1.1 Popular guise. Cor Lummy
Plus I now have 2 different Morris Marinas!
And a landcrab in Austin variation...
And a Mk2 Tina....

Re: Vanguards cars
You have been busy!
Nicely detailed all of them, I particularly like the land crab 1800.
I'm old enough to remember them being introduced in the sixties.....

There have been some models sold off though. A fair few of my 1/24 bits & bobs have said TTFN, and more are going on ebay, plus my model buses are going bye byes one by one as well.

Hi Marty, you only seem to be lacking an Anglia

Re: Vanguards Cars
I did have a couple of Anglia vans which were made in England ( AA & RAC ) but sold them to a friend nearly 2 years ago
